Vote in the Amado Guevara Meltdown Pool!
By: Laurie | April 9th, 2008
I was wandering through the blogosphere this morning and stumbled across a great idea. One of those I wish I’d thought of myself.
In case you haven’t heard, there have been rumors linking Amado Guevara to MLS. Yes, again. You may (or may not) remember Guevara as last year’s big bust. Or as the answer to the trivia question: What’s a designated player slot worth? Because after having some success over the years with the MetroStars (now Red Bulls,) Guevara was traded to Chivas USA in exchange for their designated player spot.
Chivas got hosed. Guevara came in at a high salary, played four games, and… Well, let’s go to our good friend Wikipedia for the details, shall we?
After playing just four games for the club, Chivas USA coach Preki told MLSnet.com that “I have a vision of where the club is going and [Guevara’s] not part of it.” This comment came following consistently poor performance on the field and an incident in which Guevara was sent off for pushing an assistant referee. Attempts to deal the midfielder to Toronto FC, Colorado Rapids, FC Dallas, and Columbus Crew were all shot down by Guevara. Guevara than accepted a loan move to his former club Motagua for the remainder of the 2007 season. He quickly recovered the form that made him a star in the US top flight, leading the Honduran club to the Central American Club Championship Copa Interclubes UNCAF 2007 defeating regional and Costa Rican giant Saprissa 2-1 on aggregate on December 5, 2007.
And now he’s being linked to Toronto FC. Lucky bastards.
Which brings us to the topic of this post. The Amado Guevara Meltdown Pool! With, like, prizes and everything! According to the post, linked to above,
The rules are simple. Guevara scores with his first touch with Toronto, then quits because he doesn’t want a single blemish on his newfound MLS stint.

I predict, if signed, he will be well behaved all season, and will improve TFC greatly.
Next year, maybe a meltdown. Maybe.

Yeah, Lugo, I saw that. Which makes the pool all the more timely.
