Major League Links, 03.31 - Match Reports, Match Reports, Match Reports
By: Jeff | March 31st, 2008And I do apologize for my failure to post Major League Links last Friday. But, y’know…life.
That said, it’s kind of fun to go back and read all the previews for this weekend’s games. Just shy of half of those bold statements came undone by Sunday. Here’s today’s stuff:
- The Chicago Fire Offside’s Sean celebrates opening day and, briefly, MLSLIVE.tv. Thanks to MLSLIVE.tv, Sean saw plenty of soccer action…just not the Chicago game. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, he’s still hatin’ on Wilman Conde…and it is good.
- Alex from the Chivas Offside looks back at his side’s away-draw against FC Dallas and rates the players. It sounds like Chivas gave a little better than they got.
- Jeff found a lovely image to capture what the Colorado Rapids did to the Los Angeles Galaxy over the weekend; he’s so proud he posted it on the Colorado Rapids Offside. He’s a little less proud that he completely missed Ciaran O’Brien’s sending off for Colorado. Again, he blames life…and his awful, awful children; it was them.
- Since we’re on the subject, may as well link to jen’s dour commentary on the LA Galaxy Offside. By the way, both this and Jeff’s post include lively discussions of the Omar Cummings penalty, which made Colorado’s second goal.
- Another site with reason for complaint, and the match report to match, was the Dynamo Offside; Daryl lays into his boys in Orange…except Stuart Holden, who apparently didn’t do so bad…bless you, Stuart.
- Turning to the happy teams now: the KC Offside revels in the total team effort that the Wizards employed to beat DC United. And all good people celebrate with him.
- Count Dan from the New England Offside another happy camper. It seems that the win over the Dynamo tasted like the sweet, sweet candy of revenge. Delicious!
- In spite of coming away with a tie, Fitz from the RSL Offside sees reason for not fearing a repeat of his side’s (admittedly awful) seasons past.
- Rounding out the weekend’s news are the teams who did nothing over the weekend…or at least nothing that counts for the regular season. Melissa, from the San Jose Offside, reports on her team’s win over the Portland Timbers (stupid LIFE! I missed it! Hate! Hate! Hate!); she also flags the pick-up of John Cunliffe from Chivas USA - at the loss of Chris Pozniak…by the way.
- Finally, Red Bull New York, who did nothing on the field this weekend, could be doing the soccer equivalent of gobbling up properties in foreclosure from Scotland’s Gretna - so reports Dave M from the Red Bull Offside.
