Week Eight Preview: Part One

Due to time constraints, I’m only going to have time for a quick look at tonight’s match up. I haven’t carved out enough time to get through seven (quality) previews in time for kickoff between San Jose and New York. Part two will be up late Friday night/Saturday. Here goes with tonight’s game:

New York v San Jose
Desperation reeks from this one as a disappointing Red Bull squad take on a weakened San Jose side. News is bad for the Quakes, who won’t have Darren Huckerby available, and the likes of Jason Hernandez and Simon Elliot slowed by injuries. New York must be looking forward to a weakened opponent, as they search for answers in a season that is unraveling by the week. Their last effort at Giants Stadium was an embarrassing 3-2 loss against D.C. United in the dying seconds of the game. Surely fans will be hoping for a repeat performance of their 2-0 win against Real. What kind of impression can Albert Celades leave on tonight’s match? Can the potentially dangerous duo of Mac Kandji and Juan Pablo Angel perform to expectations? I like New York in this one, but it will be for the die-hards only.
New York 2-0 San Jose

For what it’s worth, I like NYRB in this one, too. But 2 goals sounds like an offensive explosion for them. I’ll go 1-0.

Wow. 4-1. Who expected this? I sure didn’t.
