Week 31 Primetime Preview
By: travis | October 23rd, 2008Chicago v New York
This is it. This is what they play for since the start of the season, all the way back in March/April. If you remember that. Tonight, the first of a few very important games take place, as Juan Carlos Osorio returns to his old stomping grounds to visit the Fire, with the Red Bull in need of a win to secure a spot in the playoffs. A loss or tie doesn’t necessarily rule them out, but it would give DC a chance to knock them out on Sunday.
According to Ives, Chicago will be coming out with a bit of a grudge, and start most of their regulars. And the added incentive of a win equaling home field advantage, and they’ll no doubt be coming out to play. There will probably be no 80-yarders from Danny Cepero tonight, so it’ll be up to Juan Pablo Angel to come up huge – no easy task against Wilman Conde and Bakary Soumare. Although, the Fire’s vaunted defense has been far from good form recently. I can see this one being played out as a draw, although there will be plenty of fireworks – of this I am sure.
