@bluemeanies: I thought the exact same thing. If the situation were reversed, and the soccer game I was watching ran into the time slot for some sport I didn't care about...well I wouldn't care about it.

What really bugged me was looking at the other TV in the pub and seeing a 30 year old boxing match on ESPN Classic. They should have put the MLS match on Classic or ESPNews until the ladies' bball game was over.

I think ESPN has a tendency to stick with the game that is happening until its over instead of cutting to the next game. If an MLS playoff game went to OT and penalties the game after that would be pre-empted and the fans of college football/golf/poker/womens water polo would be cursing out how something as insignificant as soccer could pre-empt them. Three overtimes for a mid season WNBA game shows the folly of mainstream american sports aversion to the tie game, but not ESPN's decision making however much it irks.

What happened to the Houston vs Dallas match? I wanted to hear your thoughts on the entire first half being preempted on ESPN by three overtimes of a WNBA game. My thoughts can be compressed into one word, which begins with an "F" and rhymes with "One of the worst movies of all time, both critically and at the box office, was Howard the Duck."
