Vancouver is in

News is breaking out in Vancouver that the Whitecaps will indeed be the 17th franchise to join Major League Soccer. A quick excerpt from the story:

The Vancouver Whitecaps will thrive as a Major League Soccer team and push to become the city’s number two sports franchise — behind only the market-dominant Vancouver Canucks.

That was the word Tuesday from Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi as his team prepares join MLS in 2011. The soccer club is expected to announce Wednesday it has secured one of two MLS expansion franchises that will begin play in two years.

This seemed pretty obvious, but exciting nonetheless. Thoughts on who the other team will be? Portland? St. Louis? Montreal sneaking in the back door?

Montreal is run by the mafia, they won’t get in especially if it was another Canadian team that got the otehr spot.
