Tuesday Thoughts
By: travis | December 16th, 2008Morning everyone. Today’s a big day for the MLS, especially out in Seattle. A big announcement is expected later today – around 2 PM EST. It’ll take place at FX McRory’s Steak Chop & Oyster House, and I hear they’ll be dishing out 12 oz steaks cut into Sigi Schimd’s likeness. While that’s the major news of the day, that’s not all that is going on in Major League Soccer:
+The new FC Dallas blogger Scott, sounds off in reaction to Schellas Hyndman and his approach to the treatment of youth players. Doesn’t sound like a good situation out there. The future of Kenny Cooper is also up in the air. Come January, he may be on his way to Europe.
+The big news north of the border is the homecoming of Dewayne De Rosario, dealt to Toronto for Julius James and some money. Expect more moves from Toronto during the offseason as they look to make a playoff run in 2009.
+Over in lala land, jen seems to think that the unofficial Donovan loan to Bayern Munich is going to be a permanent move. Word on the street is the Galaxy put in a bid for Argentian midfielder Andres D’Alessandro. While it was turned down, could a move like that signal the LA front office is already beginning a search to replace their leading scorer from ‘08.
+Speaking of LA, the other team at the HDC might lose one of their best players. Sacha Kljestan is being chased by a number of European squads, including Celtic, Monaco, and Wolfsburg, to name a few.
+Up in New York, Dave has the results from his weekend poll question – who wants Guevara back? The people have voted and they speak the truth. Maybe it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world for him to return. Toronto boasts a deep midfield, at least on paper.
