Seattle 3-3 D.C. United Highlights
By: travis | June 18th, 2009A thoroughly entertaining matchup last evening, D.C. was perhaps a bit lucky to come away with the draw. Osvaldo Alonso scored a pretty blast from long range, but the game also featured two own goals. Here are the highlights:
What are your thoughts on the game? Did Seattle deserve the win? United lucky to draw? Have your say below.

wow – so the DC v. Seattle game ended up with the same score as the college baseball game it was replaced by?! wonderful . . .

I was at the game, and the play was magical. I have never seen such fun, entertaining soccer in MLS.
Result sucked, though.
Ditto for ESPN’s coverage — if I were a DCU fan, I’d be pissed at having the first 2/3 pre-empted for college freakin’ baseball.Posted from

College baseball?! WTF?! WHY DOES MLS NOT GET RESPECT?!
Oh and thats awesome DC got another tie, though i was expecting a win. If fred was healthy, or is Moreno were healthy, i think it wouldve been a different outcome. We need defenders. I miss Peralta.

Step up Garber. The MLS Commish needs to defend our wonderful sport and get some respect from ESPN.

Way to go Montero to silence all those calling for him to be benched. Great game for him, he’s really come into form these last two weeks.

ESPN’s coverage of this was terrible. Why would they let a COLLEGE baseball game interfere with an MLS game? ESPN definately looses kudos points for this – and confirms what terrible coverage they have for all soccer.

Agreed. Let them know what you think.
What annoys me is that I was dying to watch this game again, so I set the DVR. Because I’m so into college baseball.

Also, what really kills me? ESPN made us change the start time from 8:00 to 7:30. Then they didn’t broadcast the first sixty minutes of the game!!

And since Sounders FC gets more viewers on the average local broadcast than the ESPN GoTW, the would think that ESPN would want to make Seattle fans very very happy.
Incessant “La Toe” mispronunciations notwithstanding, I loved ESPN’s coverage (they captured the atmosphere much better than the others) but I don’t think they did themselves any favors in hoping to pick up extra Seattle matches and the associated ratings going forward.

Hey, your posts have inspired me! – I love the way you directly get to the point, and then work outwards. I’ve been trying to do figure out what I want to say about ,that would allow me to do exactly the same thing.
