Monday Morning News
By: travis | December 8th, 2008Hope everyone had a lovely weekend. During the offseason I’ll be experimenting and tweaking with presenting the news from around the league in different and unique ways. It’s basically going to be a Major League Links-type deal combined with other stories. Because more stuff goes on than what we have covered. That poorly-worded introduction aside, here’s what is going on around Major League Soccer:
+Over at DC United, Jon talks about the latest wheelings, dealings, and rumors swirling around the red and black.
+Laurie was kind enough to drop by and post highlights of the Galaxy’s 3-0 win over the Oceania All Stars. Not sure how many folks bothered to watch it, given that it started at 1:30 AM EST.
+Dave checks in over at RBNY with some anecdotes and news from Bull land, including opinions on Juan Pietravello sticking around and Jozy over in Europe.
+Ian laments over San Jose’s treatment of one of MLS’s classier players, Joe Cannon. Shame on you San Jose.
+Watch Freddie Ljungberg show off the new Sounders kit, released last week. Hope he doesn’t hurt himself modeling.
+One of the league’s best defenders, Michael Parkhurst, has left the MLS for Denmark. Best of luck to you, Michael. Anyone else concerned about the talent sieve this league is becoming?
+The Houston Dynamo find out about their next Champions League opponent on Wednesday when the draw for the knockout stages takes place.
+Brooks at the USA World Cup Blog shares a song written by Weezer front man Rivers Cuomo about the Men’s National Team?
+Are you an aspiring soccer player? Look no further than the Kansas City Wizards or Chivas USA for a tryout. Coming in 2009.
That’s all for now. Please leave thoughts and comments below, especially if there is news I missed.
