Major League Links: 3.6.08
By: Jeff | March 6th, 2008OK, did I get the format for the title correct? Check. Not duplicating anything Dave Martinez did earlier? Check…I think.
All right, people. I’m standing in for Queen Laurie as well…at least I think I’m supposed to. If I’m not, please take me to task in the space below. But, to all concerned, be gentle. I’m a delicate person. Onto the links.
From Offside Team Blogs
+ Laurie, though absent (come back! We’re lost!), live-blogged the LA Galaxy’s win over a collection of Hong Kong knock-offs. Quel Trooper! (Was it just me or did the field look shag?) Interested in video of Carlos Ruiz’s hat-trick? Click.
+Over on the KC Offside, Travis celebrates the Wizards having their way with some Argentine opposition. (Oh, and P.S.: The Trujillo has landed…check the bottom of another celebration, this one of Jimmy Conrad.)
+ Fitz, of RSL Offside fame, clocks his team’s exploits in Argentina. (Perhaps an outright merger is in order?)
+ TrivDaddy, from the Crew Offside, posts video of the top 10 goals from Columbus’ 2007…video of the other three is, presumably, elsewhere. Seriously, there are some great goals in there.
+ Some slacking a-hole named Jeff chats a little about Rapids’ brand-new Raphael…Gomes, that is.
From Elsewhere…
+ Not to plug my “other” space, but Breton from Center Holds It posted that cool little status report on season ticket sales across MLS that made the rounds today. What can I say? The man does good work.
+ Greg Lalas – yes, the smart Lalas – turned in a smart 3-5-2 column on new overseas arrivals/trends we should all watch in 2008. So…watch them…OK?
+ Yeah, Steve Goff broke the story (but he always does!), but I liked Dave Lifton’s post on it better: Santino Quaranta signed with DC United today. And get this: he’s on the traveling roster for next week’s game in Jamaica.
+ If there’s a topic eating up bandwidth today, it’s talk of either Toronto’s or Chicago’s front office restricting away fans. Pitch Invasion explains…and probably demonstrates I didn’t read this closely enough. A ways into the piece, the head of Chicago’s Section 8 pleas for unity from other supporters’ groups; take him up on it, people.
+ Finally (did I screw up and go too long?), Guzano’s Knee-O Hurt-O. Do they have a back-up…one worthy of the name?
