Major League Links, 04.03: Smack!*

By: Jeff | April 3rd, 2008

* This word is to be uttered as a single, high-ish-pitched note. Think “La!”

- It’s also the inspiration for the cross-Offside-team-blog, pre-game antics going on San Jose’s and LA’s site. We all know it’s “game on” tonight between the Earthquakes and the Galaxy - and on ESPN2, no less. The Earthquakes Offside fired the opening salvo, with Melissa’s sharp, one-sentence prediction for the game…I’ll let you read it and figure out which it is. Nice video in there, as well…dang, that Nick Garcia is one polished dude.

- The LA Offside’s jen responded with a special “welcome back” over her own…

- You can take a look ahead at all the weekend’s action thanks to travis (the KC Offside regular), who posted a tidy, one-stop preview for all of Major League Soccer’s Week 2 games.

- Turning now to games past Daryl, writing on the Dynamo Offside, relives the dull pain of last night’s CONCACAF Champions’ Cup semifinal draw against Deportivo Saprissa…and there’s a chunk in there to prove how swell Brian Ching really is.

- Finally, the Red Bulls Offside Dave M keeps you reading with a (good-beer-addled) report on the ESPN Zone media event as well as a smart take on the Lider Marmol push-pull between Chicago and his Red Bulls.

I would like to add that everyone should read Johah Freedman’s SI.com article on the rivalry before getting comfortable in front of ESPN2 tonight.

    BLANCO!!!

This ref is the worst ever. I know he’s carding every Revo he sees, but this guy is a complete stroke.

The Guiness is in honor of my presence in Dublin, isn’t it? (We toured the Guiness factory yesterday. I still hate stout, but it’s better in Dublin proper.)
