Week Six Preview

By: travis | May 1st, 2008

And so it continues. Another week, another feeble attempt from me to act like I know what I’m talking about. Making picks for each match makes things fun; each game now means more to me. This week, I’m tired and don’t have much to say. Here we go:

Toronto v New York Red Bull
Juan Pablo Angel makes his return as Jozy Altidore will now have a bit of relief in leading the Red Bull attack. Amado Guevara to face his old club, and to try and lead Toronto to their fourth win in a row. I say he does such a thing.
Verdict: Toronto 2-1 New York

Columbus v Kansas City
Can the Crew continue to play well? Will Claudio Lopez find the net again? All that, plus shots at the semi-empty stands in Columbus. I say that the Crew win. But I’m sure I’ll be wrong.
Verdict: Columbus 3-1 Kansas City

New England v Chicago
The Revolution keep getting results even with their roster out. Chicago comes into town on Fire. Well, not really, but they did win last week. Last time these teams squared up, Chicago pasted New England 4-0. Don’t think that’ll happen this time around. Although it might. You never know.
Verdict: New England 3-1 Chicago

Houston v Chivas USA
Two struggling teams in the Western Conference face off. Dynamo are the only team without a victory this season and can’t seem to get things right, while Chivas wants to get the bad taste of the Galaxy game out of their system. Sacha scores again in a close one. I think though, whatever I pick for Chivas, the opposite happens. So, they’ll probably lose.
Verdict: Houston 2-1 Chivas

Real Salt Lake v Los Angeles
Can anyone stop Landon Donovan? I bet Salt Lake limits him to just one goal. And Alan Gordon? A brace? Now I’ve seen it all. RSL can’t find their groove on the road, but they grab a couple back in the confines of home.
Verdict: RSL 3-2 Los Angeles

San Jose v Dallas
Instead of playing in the Oakland A’s stadium, this week San Jose welcomes MLS to Buck Shaw stadium, home of the Santa Clara University football (or soccer) team. The Quakes are struggling a bit offensively, but I think they’ll score this weekend. Just not more than Dallas.
Verdict: San Jose 1-3 Dallas

Colorado v DC United
Christian Gomez is going to be real motivated for this one. Cast off from DC after last season, the former MVP will be out for blood. United sits at the bottom of the table in the East and will look to take this opportunity to try and gain some ground on the rest of the opposition.
Verdict: Colorado 2-2 DC United

Record Last Week: 2-5 Season: 13-22

I’m on a roll. Nowhere to go but up.

Also, always remember: I have no idea what I’m talking about. As my record firmly proves.

Real Salt Lake v Los Angeles:
This should be a good game and I think the score will be different than 3-2, more like 2-2. with the LAG defense and Cronin coming up big to get the draw.
